These last days of October, researchers of PPNEA have meet with different shepherds and breeders in the area of Drino valley and Zagoria, in Gjirokastra region – Southern Albania. The aim was to learn more about the threats for the Egyptian vulture in Albania, this species which is severely facing extinction with only 6 last pairs remained. From the conversations with shepherds in the Mountains “Mali i Gjerë”, “Lunxhëri” and “Çajup”, a lot of important and reliable information has been gathered. These expeditions will continue and cover the entire feeding range of the Egyptian vulture in Albania, in order to obtain a clearer picture on the threats for this species in the country. We would like to acknowledge the staff of Regional Agency of Protected Areas of Gjirokastër, for facilitating this activity.
